The combination "health and tourism" is an attractive formula that is receiving increasing interest from the world, as rest and physical well-being are becoming paramount to combat the problems of busy urban lifestyles.

Spas for their environmental characteristics are not only places for improving physical health, but are also ideal for fighting the tiredness of daily activities with holistic concepts that lessen the effects of stress, age and environment.

Spas of today seek to rediscover natural products, that have provided centuries of benefit, and re-introduce them to today's health conscious consumer.

Foot Reflexology, Swedish,'Shiatsu', traditional Balinese Remedial and Aromatherapy massage. Massages that use aromatherapy are able to treat physical ailments. The "essential oils" made from plant extracts are reputed to have calming or mood elevating properties. In Bali, many of the plant extracts are made from locally sourced plants such

A Word on Latur

'Mandi Lulur' (Lulur bath) is an exfoliation and body polishing treatment originating from Java. A brown, granular paste of pulverized ingredients like; turmeric, sandalwood, scented woods, ground nuts and rice, are painted onto the body and left to dry. The paste is then gentry rubbed off, hence exfoliating and polishing the skin. This treatment is followed by a rinsing shower, and, in some salons, yoghurt, or a mixture of milk and honey, is wiped over the body to restore the natural pH to the skin. Finally, a warm scented, flower-filled bath finishes off this luxurious skin treatment.

as; Jepun (frangipane), Jahe (ginger), Cendana (sandalwood), Coconut and, even, Bali Kopi (Balinese coffee grains).`

Many spas and salons in Bali prepare their own essential oils using age-old methods and recipes handed down through generations of beauty therapists.

The restaurants, or cafes, at these Spas not only offer exotic teas, herbal tonics, and original mixes of fresh fruit juices (some using bee pollen or soy milk) but they also serve up wholesome sustenance for health conscious Spa enthuthiasts who wish to be as clean intenally as externally.

If you want to feel like a king or a queen for the day (or two!) choose from the extensive variety of the available spa treatments and experience the ultimate in professional pampering. Hours of sheer heaven and bliss await you while you clean, refresh and revitalize your mind, body and soul in paradise
